Health & Genetics is important to the Miniature Australian Shepherds. The most basic of testing will include, OFA or Penn Hip ratings for Hip Dysplasia and Elbow Dysplasia, CERF for eye clearances. In the past few years several more DNA test have become available for breeders to test their Mini Aussies that include PRCD (progressive rod-code degeneration), MDR-1(multidrug resistance gene), and HC (hereditary cataract).
